Answers to Common Questions About Our Service
What services do you provide?
We offer remote speech therapy for children, adults, and seniors, treating speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
How does remote speech therapy work?
Virtual therapy sessions are conducted via a HIPPA compliant video platform. You will receive a link and appointment reminder before each session.
Is remote therapy as effective as in-person sessions?
Yes — research shows teletherapy is equally effective with the right tools and expertise.
Do you accept insurance?
We proudly welcome private pay clients and are happy to discuss flexible payment options to make therapy accessible and affordable.
We currently accept Aetna South Carolina insurance and are out of network with other providers. We’re continuing to grow and partner with additional insurance payers—please reach out to our office for the latest updates or to discuss your individual coverage options.
Do you accept Medicare?
At this time, we do not accept Medicare. However, we’re continuously working to expand our accepted insurance providers to make our services more accessible. You can still pay privately for sessions, and we’ll be happy to provide receipts or documentation if you’d like to submit for potential reimbursement.
Speech Therapy for Adults
What types of adult conditions do you treat?
We work with adults who have a communication or swallowing disorder as a result of neurological events such as stroke or brain injury, or who are living with degenerative neurological disorders including Parkinson’s Disease (PD), Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), ALS, Dementia, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
How do I know if I need speech therapy?
If you notice changes in speech clarity, memory, swallowing, or language skills that make daily life harder, speech therapy may help. We also recommend talking with your physician, who can guide you in determining whether a referral to speech therapy is appropriate.
What happens during the first session?
We complete a full assessment to evaluate communication, swallowing, and cognitive skills. This helps us identify the appropriate areas of focus and create a personalized treatment plan based on your goals and needs.
How long does therapy take?
Every person is different. Some people see improvement in just a few weeks, while others with long-term conditions may benefit from ongoing support. The length of therapy depends on your diagnosis, progress, and personal goals.
Do you provide therapy for swallowing problems?
Yes. We offer swallowing therapy (dysphagia treatment) to make eating and drinking safer and more comfortable after stroke, brain injury, or neurological conditions.
Can speech therapy really help with memory and thinking?
Yes. Many people don’t realize that speech-language pathologists also address cognitive skills that support communication. Therapy can help improve memory, attention, organization, and problem-solving after a stroke, brain injury, or with dementia. We use practical strategies—like memory aids, organization tools, and practice with real-life tasks—to make daily routines and conversations easier to manage.
Do you specialize in treatment of communication and swallowing disorders due to Parkinson’s disease?
Yes. We specialize in treating both communication and swallowing changes caused by Parkinson’s disease. Therapy may include evidence-based voice programs such as LSVT LOUD® to strengthen and improve speech clarity and volume, as well as strategies and exercises to make swallowing safer and more comfortable.
Will I get homework to do at home?
Yes. We provide practical exercises and strategies to practice between sessions so progress carries over into everyday life.
Do you involve family or caregivers in therapy?
Absolutely. We coach and support caregivers so they know how to encourage progress and make communication easier at home.
How does payment work?
We currently accept Medicare in select states and offer private pay options for all other services. For those paying privately, we can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. We also offer flexible payment options to make therapy accessible.
Speech Therapy for Children
What types of difficulties do you treat in children?
We work with children who have challenges making speech sounds, speaking clearly, understanding language, using words and sentences, or expressing themselves effectively.
How do I know if my child needs speech and/or language therapy?
If your child is hard to understand, struggles to follow directions, has trouble finding words, or is falling behind in speech and/or language skills compared to peers, therapy may help. Talking with your child’s pediatrician or teacher can also guide you toward an evaluation.
What happens during the first session?
The first session is an evaluation where we look closely at your child’s speech and/or language skills. We use standardized assessment tools, observation, and conversation to identify strengths and areas that need support. At the end, we review the results with you and recommend a personalized therapy plan.
How long does therapy take?
Every child is different. Some make progress quickly, while others need ongoing support. The length of therapy depends on your child’s specific needs, goals, and progress over time.
What does a typical therapy session look like?
Sessions are engaging and interactive, often using games, books, and conversation to target specific speech or language goals in a way that keeps children interested.
Will my child get homework?
Yes. We provide simple practice activities to do at home between sessions. This helps carry over progress and allows parents to be directly involved in their child’s success.
How involved are parents in therapy?
We believe parents are key to progress. We provide coaching and feedback so you feel confident supporting your child’s communication at home.
What ages do you work with?
We provide speech and language therapy for school-aged children, beginning around age 5 and up.
Can therapy help with my child’s school performance?
Yes. Improving speech clarity and language skills often supports academic growth, classroom participation, reading, and writing.
How does payment work for children’s therapy?
We currently offer private pay services for children’s therapy. We can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Flexible payment options are available.
Speech Therapy in Schools
What types of school services do you provide?
We partner with schools to provide speech and language therapy, evaluations, and IEP/RTI support for students who need help with communication skills.
Do you work directly with school districts?
Yes. We contract with school districts to provide speech therapy exclusively through telepractice using secure, HIPAA- and FERPA-compliant platforms.
What student needs do you address in schools?
We provide services for articulation, language delays and disorders, fluency (stuttering), voice, and communication challenges that impact academic success.
How are evaluations completed?
We use standardized assessment tools, teacher input, and classroom observations (conducted virtually when needed) to evaluate a student’s speech and language skills. Results guide IEP goals and therapy planning.
Do you provide telepractice (online therapy) for schools?
Yes. All of our school-based services are delivered through secure teletherapy, allowing us to support students no matter where they are located.
How do you support IEPs?
We complete evaluations, write goals, and provide therapy services aligned with each student’s IEP. We also attend IEP meetings virtually and collaborate closely with the IEP team.
Do you provide RTI/MTSS support?
Yes. We support schools with virtual screenings, progress monitoring, and short-term interventions to assist students who may need additional help before an IEP is considered.
How do you communicate with teachers and parents?
We provide regular progress updates, share strategies for carryover in the classroom, and maintain open communication with both teachers and parents through email, phone calls, or virtual meetings.
What ages/grades do you serve?
We work with students in elementary, middle, and high school settings, depending on the needs of the district.
How does payment work for school services?
We contract directly with school districts. Services are billed to the district, not to individual families. Rates are variable and based on the individual needs and requirements of each district.
